Into The Abyss

The director Werner Herzog states at the very beginning of the documentary that Human beings should not be executed, he does not want to discuss whether the death penalty is right or wrong, but aims to turn our "gaze into the abyss of the human soul." Though we might not discover the truth in the homicide cases involving Jason Burkett and Michael Perry, we can definitely experience the mixture of feelings in the various interviews, their pain and loss, as well as wishes and hopes.
